Xie Yan graduated from Nanjing Normal University in 2006 and since then has been teaching English at Nanjing University of Finance and Economics. In August, 2012, she went to McGill University in Canada to receive Specialized ESL Training for Teachers.

Work experience:

She has taught several dozen courses, including Integrated English, Advanced English Writing,College English, etc..Her research interest is discourse analysis and critical linguistics. Part of her MA thesis was included in the publication Intertextuality of News Discourse in Chinese and English Newspapers which was a result of a National Social Science Fund Project. Her current research is around the construction of the social identity of the marginalized group.
